First 2007 Draft

by Portland 8/20/2007

My first Draft is officially over.  I made some bold selections and drafted players who are exciting to watch.  I traded the number seven selection for the fourth selection.  Of course the draft began with Tomlinson, Jackson and Johnson.  I selected Reggie Bush at four. Addai went fifth follewed by Gore, Alexander, Westbrook and Rudi.  Pick ten selected Jone-Drew and Parker.

The rest of my draft (in order) is as follows:

Chad Johnson

Terrell Owens

Clinton Portis

Adrian Peterson

Marion Barber

San Diego DE

Tony Romo

Matt Leinart

Santonio Holmes

Denver DE

Dallas Clark

Devin Hester

Matt Jones

Olindo Mare

I wanted Palmer in the third round but he was selected right before my turn.  I saw TO and thought...Chad Johnson and TO would be a great WR combo after a year of disappointing WR Fantasy stats.

I needed another running back and Portis fit my team of Risk-Reward perfectly.

I am from Minnesota and was happy to select Adrian Peterson with my fifth pick.  The Best back the Vikings will probably ever have.  A guy who is as electricfing as Randy Moss was in his Rookie season.  The Vikings have an unbelievable offensive line and Chester doesn't impress me.  No doubt...Adrian Peterson is a stud.

I was debating between Marion Barber and Adrian Peterson in round five so when he was still available in round six...I had to draft him.  Four running backs in the first six rounds isn't great draft but I feel the picks were worth the Risk.

I wanted Vince Young to complete the Fantasy "Highlight Reel" team but he was selected a couple of spots before me in round seven so I went the San Diego's DE.  I am a HUGE fan of Shawn Merriman.  The Guy loves to knock players out...like Lawrence Taylor and Ray Lewis.

My first real mistake of the draft came in rounds eight and nine.  I drafted Tony Romo and Matt Leinart back to back and didn't realize they had the same bye week (Online drafts with minute and half time limits...can get the the best of us).  First of all I am not sold on Romo so I wanted another QB with some great WRs.  Leinart has the weapons to produce HUGE fantasy points.  Hopefully by then I will be able drop an unproductive player and pick up a QB to start in week 8.

If Santonio Holmes, Matt Jones or Hester come through...I will be set with WR.

I can't wait for the season to begin!
